People ask because the forest is a dense pharmacy and because the internet talks as if that were already oncology. It is not. Surgery, chemo, radiation, immunotherapy — those are the proven tools. Plants can sit beside that care. They do not replace it.
Traditional practitioners I have sat with do not usually say “this bark heals cancer.” They talk about strengthening a person, cleaning the blood, accompanying a hard treatment, or helping someone die with less pain. That is a bold claim about use. It is not a tumor-response curve.
Cat’s claw — Uncaria tomentosa
Used to ward off illness and to push recovery. A 2025 systematic review of in-vitro work found selective cytotoxicity that depends on extract and on POA versus TOA fractions (Front. Pharmacol. 2025). In people, the trial that exists is not “tumors shrank.” Araújo’s group gave 300 mg dry extract to women on FAC chemotherapy and saw less neutropenia (PMC3395261). CAM-Cancer and NCCIH both refuse a cancer-treatment claim. So do I. U. tomentosa is not interchangeable with U. guianensis.
Sangre de drago — Croton lechleri
Red sap is a wound medicine. Taspine and the sap have killed melanoma and colon lines in a dish (Montopoli 2012). The human drug from this tree is crofelemer (Mytesi), an FDA botanical for antiretroviral diarrhea — not an anti-cancer drug (MSKCC). Wound logic and oncology are different jobs.
Lapacho / tahuari — pink and yellow
Folk decoctions for infection and “tumors” are old. Isolated lapachol in chronic myeloid leukemia: no clinical benefit, real toxicity (MSKCC, Block 1974). β-lapachone went into early pharmaceutical trials and hit hemolysis. A tea is not that dose. Do not pretend it is.
Graviola — Annona muricata
Acetogenins are cytotoxic. They are also the reason heavy Annonaceae consumption was linked to atypical parkinsonism in the French Caribbean. I do not run a graviola cancer protocol on this site.
How people talk past each other
- Immune tone is not tumor kill.
- Apoptosis in a dish happens with lemon juice. It is a clue.
- The house blend Esencia de Mariposa Azul is accompaniment — cat’s claw, tahuari, suma, chuchuhuasi — not a heading that says PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF CANCER.
Herbs out of context are not the work. The dieta, the mind, the relations, and the plants belong together.
