Mezcla Jaguar

When a fever has gone and the body is still empty, this is the mix we built: one vine, one fruit, one bark. Jaguar is a guardian in forest stories. Mezcla Jaguar is ours.

• Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa)
  Same Araújo et al. 2012 neutropenia paper as Esencia (PMC3395261, PMID 22811748): 40 women on FAC chemo, 300 mg dry extract/day; neutrophils held closer to normal. Small RCT. It did not shrink tumors.

• Camu Camu (Myrciaria dubia)
  Inoue et al. 2008 (PMID 18922386): 20 male smokers, 70 ml juice (~1050 mg vitamin C) vs the same C in tablets for 7 days. Only the juice dropped 8-OHdG, ROS, hs-CRP, IL-6, IL-8. Tiny, short, smokers. Still the best human camu-camu trial we have.

• Tahuari (Handroanthus serratifolius)
  Gómez Castellanos et al. 2009 (PMID 18992801) as on Esencia. Infections and “tumors” are folk talk. Quinones are real; so is toxicity. Sister page: pink lapacho.

Not for transplant patients on immunosuppressants. Not for high-dose tahuari without supervision.
