Elixir del Quetzal

Call this a sugar tea if you want. Do not call it insulin. Elixir del Quetzal is a house blend. The quetzal is Mesoamerican plumage, not an Amazonian prescription.

Name collision: the original formula card listed Cuti Cuti as Geranium sessiliflorum. That geranium is usually pasuchaca in Lima trade (Bussmann 2013, PMC3738155, PMID 23718140). Our plant page Cuti Cuti is the fern (Myriopteris / Cheilanthes myriophylla–group / Argyrochosma nivea), which those same markets sold as cuti cuti for sugar. Two plants, one nickname. This blend uses the Andean geraniums for the sugar job and still links the fern page so you can see the mess.

• Cuti Cuti (fern page, see collision) — folk hyperglycemia tea.

• Pasuchaca — the geranium that actually matches G. sessiliflorum / G. dielsianum talk.

• Cat’s Claw — inflammation, not a hypoglycemic. Araújo 2012 is about neutrophils, not glucose.

If you take insulin or metformin, watch numbers. This tea does not replace them.
